 AP reports (9/26/11) …

  • President Barack Obama charged Sunday that the GOP vision of government would “fundamentally cripple America,” as he tried out his newly combative message on the liberal West Coast.
  • “From the moment I took office what we’ve seen is a constant ideological pushback against any kind of sensible reforms that would make our economy work better and give people more opportunity,” the president said
  • The revamped approach is a relief to Democratic activists fed up by what they viewed as the president’s ceding of ground to the GOP on tax cuts and other issues while the economy has stalled and unemployment is stuck above 9 percent.
  • “We wish that his fighting spirit had been there a few months ago, but it’s here now,” said Rick Jacobs, head of the Courage Campaign, a progressive online organizing network in California.

LMW COMMENT …

YES!!!

President Obama is absolutely correct. The Republican/Tea Party/Know Nothing approach will leave America and its people in the dust, as only the very wealthy prosper, and even them not for very long.

  1. President Obama is correct, but why didn’t he say this, and, more, PUSH BACK AGAINST THE PUSH BACK? It’s one thing to say things on a campaign trail; it’s quite another to do them while in office. I am still watching his actions and am taking his words as campaign pillow talk for now. Remember, this is the guy whose administration has ignored liberals and even insulted them, as when Rahm Emmanuel called them “f*cking retarded.”
Liberals should be careful that they don’t end up again where they are now: disappointed in a smooth-talking politician who hasn’t been the liberal president they’d hoped for (a hope the candidate created and fostered).
