* Having totally failed to do what’s right regarding criminal investigation of sexual abuse by priests, Joseph Ratzinger now has the gall to object when civilian authorities do what he and his criminal cohorts in coverup should have done decades ago. There will be no resolution of this matter until bishops, cardinals and popes go to jail.

Pope Benedict

NICOLE WINFIELD (AP) writes … 6/27/10

  • The pope on Sunday called the raids carried out by Belgian police investigating priestly sex abuse “deplorable” and asserted the right of the Catholic Church to investigate abuse alongside civil law enforcement authorities.
  • (The Pope) repeated that such crimes are handled by both civil and canon law “respecting their reciprocal specificity and autonomy.”

LMW COMMENT …

Having totally failed to do what’s right regarding criminal investigation, Joseph Ratzinger now has the gall to object when civilian authorities do what they should have done decades ago. The chief enabler and cover-up man for the Church wants to make sure no else ever learns the truth. It seems to me that Ratzinger is defending only the Church and himself for his own criminal complicity, and paying no heed to the victims of abuse he ignored for so long, and still ignores. There will be no resolution of this matter until bishops, cardinals and popes go to jail.
