* Falcone (NYT): Obama viewed more favorably; McCain-Palin not

Michael Falcone writes in the NYT …

  • as the presidential race has taken on new dimensions over the last month, with increasingly negative attacks by the candidates and the looming economic crisis, it appears that as voters have gotten to know the two nominees, they judge Senator Obama more favorably.
  • According to New York Times/CBS News polls conducted before the first presidential debate and after the last one, Mr. Obama’s favorability rating are up 10 points in the last month
  • The poll found that the Republican ticket did not fare as well: “Mr. McCain made no progress in appealing to voters on a personal level, and he and his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, had alienated some voters.”
