* McCain must think we’re a nation of village idiots

James Moore writes in the Huffington Post (thanks to LIZ for the link) …
- Our national financial crisis is readily understood by anyone who has seen greed and hypocrisy.
- Conservative Republicans always want the government to stay out of business and avoid regulation as long as they are making lots of money.
- When their greed, however, gets them into a fix, they are the first to cry out for rules and laws and taxpayer money to bail out their businesses.
- John McCain rides the lobbyists’ jets. He takes their campaign donations. He makes them his campaign advisors.
- And he tells us to trust him.
- He must think we are a nation of village idiots.
LMW COMMENT:
This lengthy article traces the roots of our current financial problems through John McCain’s history …
-
the S&L scandal of McCain’s friend Charles Keating (for which McCain was widely criticized but not arrested; Keating spent 5 years in prison),
-
Phil Gramm’s deregulation measures (Gramm is McCain’s likely choice as Treasury Secretary if he gets the chance to pick one)
